Given the discovery of widespread reproducibility problems with studies of this type, one would hope that TE would be more skeptical of research that makes claims about identifying localized activities in the brain associated with specific complex thinking processes. It is apparent that research in these fields, too, are dominated by a single key factor - the need to publish papers with positive results in order to attract research funding.

But perhaps Prospero is also strongly motivated by the same constraints.

let freedom ring everywhere

I love to listen to jazz, but how it's created is a mystery. As a lifelong classical pianist myself, I'm always mystified by how jazz musicians can use a rudimentary framework and extrude a series of notes that flow together, creating something solid and new and inventive. For me, if it's not in the score, it's a mistake. For them -- I guess I have no idea where it comes from.

"Keith Jarrett was asked if he’d consider doing a concert with both jazz and classical music. He replied: 'No, that’s what I think is hilarious. I mean that is true insanity.'"
Billie Holiday: "The impossible will take a little while."
That's an innovation that Jarrett could perform--if he puts his mind to it.

Ironically the usually very clever Economist makes the exact same error that is rife in the social sciences - they mistake electrical output of various parts of the brain with actual brain activity. Just like all of those wondrous fMRI studies - this is much sound and fury about a process that we still do not understand.

Yes the brain lights up - but what does that indicate - if anything - about how we think?

Interesting exercise for the contemplation, to consider, except as however, explanatory, what you describe as however problematic, the distinction of bias, considering scientific methodology and terminology, given, we do not suppose, a 'conflict state' juxtaposed, an exercise of cognition, considering a variation of score.

Not clear how long this stochastic inference will persist opposite your peculiar enthusiasm for bi-nary juxtaposition, considering, inside, one, or other side the other, however, since there is more than a few ways to think about the infinite complexity of cognition at work, let's begin again with revulsion, considering the Montreal Brain institute strapping electrodes to nuns, and, tasking them to contemplate what God, is, so we can obtain a picture of it, from the print-out, shall we?

After all, some of these exploratory narratives of science, imply you're attempting to analyze something, you don't greet accomplished, unless, it also, is however, of effect, to purpose, contemplated, however by whom, doing what?

Yes, so I hope this isn't a 'tax funded subsidization', of persons incapable of explaining how music functions, or what musicians, do, and, if you're trying to reverse engineer a proposal for a mixed modality, exercise of genres, bravo!
